Hello, hello

I saw up this week! Me and my dad spent some quality father son time and hit a dinner and a movie. He knew I wanted to see it so he was more than willing to go though I don't know it would have been his first choice but I think we both really enjoyed it. Thats the thing about pixar films, you can be 5 or 55 and come out of one of there films feeling something. With UP I came out with both the 5 year olds feeling of adventure and excitement and the 55 year olds feeling of life is short, make each moment count, and figure out whats really important. I guess the 5 year olds had the concept down unconsciously.

I also saw the hangover this week which was hilarious, Zach Galifianakis is a genious. I found myself laughing just at his body language when no one else was. If you didn't know he's fantastic in fiona apples not about love video!

Im not political at all but I watch the NBC special on Inside the Obama White House this week as well. I thought it was very interesting and loved when Obama went to Five Guys Burgers even if it was a political stunt.

....... anywho I will say this about our President. He seems like a really family focused man if you saw it. I like that about him. It seems he really cares about the dates with his wife, or eating at the dinner table with the whole family, and having a play area outside his office window where he is able to watch his daughters play. Maybe im wrong but if thats how he is those are some great qualities anyone should respect!

Favorite Scene from Pee Wees Big Adventure. Once a guy overheard me qoute it and said o your a big Saves The Day fan? I said o is that a saves the day song? He was like yea look I have a tattoo of it! I was like o I was talking about Pee Wee.... Come to find out his song qoute tattoo was actually a song by The Get Up Kids, haha. No wonder I don't have any tattoo's yet

Anyway long time no blog, The past week I went down to Orlando, FL with my family to Disney. It was awesome we stayed in the hotel the monorail goes through at magic kingdom which was really nice and they even played Wall-e on the beach one night. I also met up with my friend Mel who has a music project called Maisie while I was intown. She's uber talented and hoping to write with her in the near future! I woke up way to early one morning and walked down to a dock and experimented with some HDR photography, Im no pro but it was fun and I like what came out.

In other news hopefully I will be in LA in the next few weeks recording with one of my best friends Erik Scott Smith who did my full length album. Im looking to maybe get an E.P. done with 3 or 4 songs! Im excited Erik is alot of fun to work with and very talented, he has produced and co wrote most stuff with me and never lets me down! Plus lets me use his small home studio.

Tonight im going to see UP! with my dad, I will let you know how it is. Pixar hasn't let me down thus far

Went out today and took some photos around Knoxville for some stock photography. Wasn't using these so I thought id post them here.

The first on a wall of a hispanic grocery store, gotta love the gang graffiti around the Jesus graffiti.

The second was a hotel that everytime I pass I've thought man I have to go take some photos of that! If your a director you should shoot a horror film there, You get a erie feeling standing in the parking lot while the sun is shining on you.

Ive gotta get a copy of this film!

Hey boys and girls, christmas is nearing! Elf is on about every other day, no complaints here. I think me and my mom have watched it a few times now. It always makes me go listen to She and Him, Zoey Deschanel's band. Its an amazing record.

I've been spending alot of time at home with close friends and family and working on my solo project. The past 2 weeks I've been writing a new solo EP and plan on recording it this week with a close friend Ben Roberts who's in town from the studio he works at in New Orleans. Im very excited to finally get a few new songs out there for you all who bought my full length record. I think I've got alot more to say these days so hopefully it will poke through.

Me and my brother have also been going to the gym alot. My muscles haven't been sore since I was a freshman in high school playing sports. Ya I played sports till I picked up at guitar at 16. Its funny my 18 year old brother can lift about double what I can but for some reason I still like to believe if we fought I could take him haha. I may be fooling myself.

So I am finally home from the road now. I guess I've been back a little over a week. To be honest its too chill for me, I need to be always going but it will def. be a good writing time for myself. I miss the road haha, but I do love the company of my close friends and family.

If i'm not staying busy I better be prepared to do something with all of the things I think so guess after thanksgiving I'll really take the initiative to get the pen to paper.

Like everyone else in the US I read and saw twilight, most were critics of the film it seemed but I enjoyed it but the books is much better. Im going to go pick up the 2nd copy in the series tomorrow. I hope there is alot of action in this one!

Last but not least new thing in my life is I turned 23 friday. Its not too exciting of an age to turn to me but Tim from the band Ludo told me it was one of his fav. years of his life so far so thanks for all the hope Tim haha. I went out with family and friends nothing too exciting, since I liked the movie Wall-E so much my mother bought be a chocolate cake with the Wall-e characters on it, what a good mother.

The Uncle Fest Tour is over... Im bummed. haha

and i have had the flu for 3 days now. ( im getting better ) We hit a deer on our trip back to seattle, The deer could still walk and no serious damage to the van. Nyquil had taken over my body so much at the time it happened that I looked up for a brief moment and fell right back to sleep. Everyone was awesome to me on the 2 day drive and made it much easier.

I always forget I have this blog though I do want to remember to update it more, forgetfulness and lazyness are working hand in hand in my blogging life right now. I haven't take as many photos on this tour as the last so I think before when I would upload photo's I would remember to blog. o well.... here I am now.

Its 6 am, we drove from Birmingham, Alabama to Nashville overnight, Matt Hoopes was kind enough to let us stay in his home, the unfortunate part of it all is I feel asleep in the van around 2 and woke up a bit ago in the van and don't feel like making my way in. Figured I would do something productive for a moment and sleep it out in here, Its nice to be alone in here anyway sometimes. Falling asleep in the van seems to be a pattern with me lately, Ive been sleeping so hard and by the time we get to the hotel im to lazy to get out or I just dont want to wake up or be woken up. So I awake to the sun hitting my eyes early in the morning and i just throw blankets over my face for a few more hours. Its nice, i promise.

Im listening to the Eddie Vedder - Into The Wild Soundtrack while I write. The film itself moves me in a million different ways. From the value of relationships with one another to experiences the world and the beauty all around us. I talk about the film alot actually, mostly I talk about how Alex should have stayed and lived with the old man. It would have been perfect for him a family that loved him finally, a place where he was happy, and a man just as lonely as he was. Its easy for me to realize that about Alexander Supertramp but for some reason I forget to look out the window of the van and see all the beautiful things im passing. Its funny how most of us do that. So quickly we want to scream in a movie theater "dont kiss her or him","dont go out there he will kill you!"" Dont Leave Her" but in the reality of our own lives we would probably do those same things.

I would like to go to sleep now, but as for tomorrow im going to look out the window and smile and think about all the awesome things in the world, maybe ill forget to the next day but we can stick with tomorrow for now.

The Uncle Fest Tour with Relient K,Ludo, This Providence, and House Of Heroes
October 9th, 2008

So were a week into the Uncle Fest Tour now, it feels like much longer to me because we had a 2 day drive before the tour and a day off. We drove from Tempe, Arizona where the last show of the Why So Serious tour was to Wisconsin. The drive was long but a great time for all of us This Prov. guys to just hang out and talk about life with one another. Dan had to go to LA for 3 days so he missed out on all of the fun unfortunately. We stayed in the first town established when we got to Wisconsin. There were four restraunts, a hotel, and gas station. We wanted to go see a movie but the closest theater would have taken us 30 miles to get too, quite the town. ( we did see Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist the other day though)

The past weeks been really great though. Ill be honest I didn't know if I would be as happy on this tour after having such a great time and making such close friends on the last tour but I am. The Relient K guys are alot of fun and so down to earth. I find myself talking about nonsense with them in the green room during the day and going out during there set and realizing im singing along to all of the songs. Its great when you can appreciate the hang and the music just as much.

We played an off day show last night in michigan at a small club call macs bar. We didn't even write a set list just called the songs out before we played another by what the crowd wanted to hear. Now were in the van a couple hours outside of Cincinnati Ohio were we play tonight.

I need to take more photo's on this tour so I can post them. I just keep forgetting, I honestly haven't taken any except for with my cellphone so I can text them to my mom and show her where we are playing haha.

Well Im going to go hide in my head for the rest of the drive. Put my head phones on and listen to the new Kings of Leon record which everyone should go out and purchase!

The Why So Serious Tour Come To An End....

Im sitting in a hotel room in Tucson Arizona right now laying in the floor, I believe everyone is asleep.

This week has been amazing. We were in California most of the week. We played Chico, S.L.O. Fresno, Bakersfield and Victorville last night.( I didnt realize actually how much we were in cali till just now)
All of the shows were really rad. The day after we played SLO we spent a day at the beach. It was fantastic me and my buddy Loren looked for sand dollars. He found quite a few , I found one haha. and me and Gavin walked down the dock and talked to an 80 year old lady about her son such an awesome day.

Tonight the Why So Serious Tour came to an end. Im super bummed to be honest. I made some life long friends on this tour. Really sad to see us all go on other tours. We dont play again until thursday in Wisconsin I believe where the Uncle Fester tour will start with Relient K. Im very excited to be on a stage with those guys i've listened to there music since i was in middle school, funny im now getting to tour with them.

Why So Serious Tour with The Cab, A Rocket To The Moon, and Hey Monday

In the past 6 days it seems we've been in the van more than usual. Thursday we played Pocatello, ID in a barn ( not an actual barn but a venue that looked like a barn) on the second song someone unplugged something and all the microphones went out luckily Shane ( our sound guy ) ran on stage and pretended to play guitar. It was one of the funniest moments of the tour so far you probably had to be there and know it wasn't planned. You cant take yourself to seriously here on the why so serious tour haha.

Friday we played Boise. Me and my buddy Loren from Rocket bought 4 dollar tank tops at urban, Great Deal!!! After the show we drove overnight back to Seattle, spent a day there, went to a wedding, chilled out and by sunday we were back on the road. A tire blew on the trailer about 10 minutes from Andy's house so instead of leaving at 9 am we ended up leaving at 4 in the afternoon for Reno. On the overnight drive I realized my cell phone was broken and wouldn't hold a charge at all. kinda sucked but I ended up getting one yesterday refurbished for no charge so no complaints.

I didn't expect the Reno show to be as great as it was, no offense to Reno. The crowd was great, I felt we played a good show, and all the bands just had a good day of hanging. I lost 40 bucks in a casino, the sad part about it was I had already won about $110.00 and decided I would rather see how much I could win in the last 2 minutes we were there or how much I could lose. Obviously I lost it all, but it was totally worth losing $40 to me.

As I keep typing dollar signs I realize how weird it is that when we read $110.00 our mind thinks one hundred and ten dollars. not Dollars one hundred and ten. maybe I just confused you?

Anyway. now were in Chico, CA . Its a cool small town to play a show in. All kinds old buildings turned into cool clothing stores, little diners, and lots of college town hippies.

Im pretty bummed this tours last show is on Sunday. Im sure most people who tour often are used to making close friends in other bands and saying goodbye but I feel like I've made some long time friends on the road. It'll be very weird saying goodbye and not knowing when we will hang again since everyone has tours coming up. Lunch Time for me and I really want a Mountain Dew. See Ya

The Road So Far....
So we've been on the road for 2 weeks tomorrow, it seems like 3 days to me. I've actually been away from home for a month and a half already. I spent a month in Seattle practicing with the band before we got on the road . Everything is so new to me! Its still way exciting so Im not missing home to bad yet.

As of right now were in the van on our way to Iowa where we will be playing tonight.We had an off day show yesterday in Salt Lake City, Utah with a band called Everybody Else, They were such a great band and awesome dudes. We all stayed at a house together last night in Salt Lake and played some guitar hero. We've actually been listening to there record all morning in the van I think its going to be one of my new favorites.

All the bands on this tour are so great. Im so stoked my first tour is with such great people. At every show all the bands are outside the venue acting like kids together trying to get into something. This Providence and A Rocket To The Moons Ep albums are releasing on the same day in October! Both are sick! Were both playing some of the new stuff on this tour.

The road is alot different than I thought it would be. I was sick the whole first week with some awful cold and just warn out from driving all over the west coast doing shows before the tour. Im getting better now though , still a little cough but thats it. I always thought I would see all of these cool things going all these places but there's so much to do and at night Im so exhausted I just forget but I did see the Alamo in San Anotonio. I immediately texted my mom a photo and she replied Pee Wee Herman's bike wasn't in the basement from Pee Wee's Big Adventure ( one of my favorite movies) haha.

Im going to try to find the drive to update this a couple times a week!
